Ondo State-owned Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo, on Monday, banned students from celebrating the end of their final year examination in the Polytechnic.
This is coming shortly after some students of the institution concluded the ongoing 2020/2021 second semester examinations and embarked on ostentatious celebration.
The ban was contained in a circular letter obtained by our correspondent dated February 28, 2022, with Ref no: RUGIPO/DSA/CIRA/20/VOL. IV/361 and signed by the institution’s Director of Students Affairs, Oloye O.M.
The circular read, “this is to inform the entire Polytechnic community especially the final year students of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo that after thorough consideration of security breach on campus on Wednesday, 23rd and Friday, 25th February, 2022, Management decided to ban all forms of activities, that are inimical to the growth and peaceful co-existence on campus”
Other prohibited activities include: “Open show of unregistered association, cult groups and oppression of harmless students; driving of unregistered vehicles on campus by the students”
“Nagging off and parading with motorcade on campus”
However, the circular enjoined the Polytechnic students to comply with the decision of the Management, while noting that any erring students will face the severe penalty.
