Man, 32, sentenced to 1 month imprisonment for stealing immigration barbed wire


A Grade 'A' Customary Court, Iyaganku, Ibadan on Monday sentenced one Taofeek Adisa, 32, to one month at the Agodi Correctional facility in Ibadan for stealing immigration barbed wire worth N150, 000.

Adisa, whose address was not provided was charged with attempt to commit felony to with stealing, to which he pleaded guilty.

The Court President, Mrs Moji Aworemi sentenced Adisa to one month imprisonment or the option of going for two weeks community service with five hours work daily.

Aworemi however held that the option of community service will be taken only if Adisa will be able to bring any of his relations to the court.

The Court President said if not, Adisa should go for the one month imprisonment.

The Prosecutor, Mr Philip Amusan told the court that Adisa committed the offence on May 2, at Immigration Barracks, Ring Road, Ibadan.

He said Adisa stole the barbed wire belonging to Nigeria Immigration Service.l, represented by one Johnson Ogundele.

He said Adisa committed an offence contrary to Sections 509 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000. (NAN)
