Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has renewed his administration’s support for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), announcing fresh investments in camp infrastructure and pledging improved welfare and safety for corps members posted to the state.
At the swearing-in ceremony for the 2025 Batch C corps members in Ikare-Akoko, the governor confirmed the approval of a new 216-bed hostel for the NYSC permanent orientation camp.
He said the facility forms part of ongoing efforts to create a more conducive environment for prospective corps members and strengthen the overall orientation experience.
Aiyedatiwa, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Segun Henry Omoyofunmi, urged the new corps members to embrace discipline, loyalty and service to humanity.
He encouraged them to take the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme seriously, stressing that practical skills would position them for stability after service.
He also reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the monthly stipend for corps members.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare, expressed appreciation to the governor for his continued support, particularly the approval of the hostel project which she described as a significant boost to camp infrastructure.
She appealed to employers and community leaders to provide a friendly and supportive atmosphere for corps members deployed to their establishments.
Bakare also commended security agencies and camp officials for their consistent role in ensuring the smooth running of the orientation exercise.
The 2025 Batch C orientation programme in Ondo State is expected to benefit from the new infrastructure investments and enhanced welfare commitments, positioning corps members for a more secure and productive service year.
Dignitaries at the event included the state Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal; the Chief Judge of Ondo State, represented by the Chief Registrar, Ayodeji Akinsaya; the Olukare of Ikare, His Royal Majesty Oba Akadiri Momoh, represented by the High Chief Olisa; and other government functionaries.
