Akindele Omole boosts Ondo NUJ facilities with snooker board donation

The Bobaselu of Odigbo Kingdom, Chief Akindele Omole, FCA, has donated a snooker board to the Ondo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), reinforcing his long-standing support for media practitioners in the state.

The presentation, held on Monday at the NUJ Press Centre in Akure, drew members of the State Executive Council and stakeholders from the media community.

Speaking at the event, Chief Omole said the donation reflected his commitment to the welfare of journalists, noting that recreational facilities help promote relaxation and mental alertness necessary for the demanding nature of their work. He added that the gesture also aimed at further strengthening ties between the traditional institution and the media.

Responding on behalf of the union, the Chairman of the NUJ Ondo State Council, Prince Leke Adegbite, expressed appreciation for what he described as the Bobaselu’s consistent support to journalists in the state. He said the new facility would boost the recreational activities at the Press Centre and provide members with a healthy avenue to unwind after work.

He encouraged other individuals and organisations to take a cue from Chief Omole’s goodwill by supporting the union in similar ways.

The event also signalled the commencement of the Billiards (Snooker) category as part of the ongoing 2025 NUJ Press Week Games.
