The Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria (MARAN) has concluded plans to unveil a landmark publication titled “50 Drivers of Nigeria's Marine and Blue Economy” on Tuesday, December 4, 2025, at the Providence Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
The forthcoming book, produced by Nigeria’s foremost body of maritime journalists, chronicles the achievements of distinguished individuals and institutions whose innovation, leadership, and commitment have significantly influenced the nation’s maritime and blue economy landscape.
In a statement signed by its President, Mr. Godfrey Bivbere, MARAN said the event will spotlight outstanding contributions within the industry while serving as a resource for scholars, investors, and policymakers seeking a deeper understanding of the sector’s evolution and future prospects.
His words: "This indispensable volume educates industry professionals on the profound history and the current opportunities, spotlighting the dedicated individuals and organisations whose contributions are shaping a future where Nigeria's marine resources are responsibly leveraged for unprecedented economic prosperity and national development.
"With the book, you can discover how the blue economy sector's past is paving the way for a promising future."
Bivbere explained that the publication is the result of months of rigorous research and editorial effort by members of the association to comprehensively document the impact of stakeholders, agencies, and associations within the maritime space.
He added that the launch would attract an array of dignitaries, including top government officials, regulators, shipowners, freight forwarders, terminal operators, and other industry players, describing the book as “a rare compendium of excellence and dedication” in Nigeria’s maritime industry.
Emphasising that preparations are in top gear for a grand event, the MARAN president assured that the ceremony would be a befitting celebration of professionalism, service, and innovation—one expected to rank among the most significant gatherings of maritime thought leaders in recent years.
