A disturbing video showing a group of secondary schoolchildren engaging in a violent street fight in Ibadan, Oyo State, sparked outrage on Tuesday after circulating widely on social media.
The footage shows students still dressed in their school uniforms chasing and attacking one another while stunned residents kept their distance. The clash reportedly involved students from three public schools who were said to have taken an ongoing rivalry outside the classroom and into the streets.
One of the clips was shared by Oyo Affairs on X with the caption,
“Public secondary school students from Olubi Memorial Grammar School, Community High School, and Ibadan Grammar caught on camera fighting. Govt needs to do something fast!!!”
The cause of the confrontation has yet to be established, but many Nigerians online described the incident as another worrying sign of deteriorating discipline among schoolchildren and faltering parental and institutional oversight.
The video has also renewed concerns about rising youth violence and the emergence of cult-like clashes within some secondary schools across the country.
As of press time, authorities had not released an official statement on the incident.
