Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has dismissed claims that he has endorsed or promised any elective ticket to aspirants ahead of the 2027 elections, cautioning party members against rumours and misinformation capable of causing cracks within the All Progressives Congress.
The governor stated this on Sunday at the Ondo APC stakeholders’ meeting held at The Dome, Akure, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, as party leaders renewed calls for unity and intensified mobilisation for the ongoing electronic membership registration.
Aiyedatiwa said he was compelled to clarify his position amid growing political insinuations as preparations for party primaries gather momentum. According to him, no individual has been guaranteed tickets for either state or National Assembly seats.
He stressed that the party’s leadership would be collectively involved in the process of selecting candidates, adding that the APC would explore a consensus option where necessary to ensure cohesion.
The governor urged members to remain disciplined and committed to protecting the party’s structure, warning that actions capable of empowering factions could weaken the APC ahead of future contests.
He emphasised unity within the party, noting that most National Assembly members from the state were present at the meeting, while those absent had sent apologies due to national engagements, adding that the APC remained the strongest political platform in Ondo State.
Aiyedatiwa also underscored the importance of the ongoing APC e-registration exercise, describing it as crucial to the party’s growth. He said the meeting was convened to mobilise leaders across wards and local governments ahead of the January 31 deadline.
The governor disclosed that Ondo State had recorded 128,770 registered APC members as of Sunday, ranking third in the South-West, while assuring that challenges linked to National Identification Number registration and logistics were being addressed to boost participation.
He explained that the stakeholders’ meeting formed part of his quarterly consultations with party leaders, noting that it was timely as the state entered the first quarter of 2026 with key political and governance activities ahead.
Aiyedatiwa listed achievements recorded by his administration in infrastructure, agriculture, education, health and security, adding that several investment projects had reached the memorandum of understanding stage and would soon move to ground-breaking.
He also highlighted the ongoing urban renewal programme in Akure, saying it was designed to reshape the state capital and improve residents’ pride in the city.
Meanwhile, APC leaders at the meeting pledged stronger mobilisation ahead of future elections. The party’s National Vice Chairman (South-West), Isaac Kekemeke, commended the level of urban renewal in Akure and praised the governor’s efforts at uniting all tendencies within the APC.
Similarly, the state caretaker chairman of the APC, Ade Adetimehin, urged members to remain united, saying internal rivalry could only weaken the party, while several stakeholders commended the governor’s performance and assured him of continued support.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor, Olayide Adelami; top government officials; federal and state lawmakers; political appointees and party leaders from across the state.
