How Ondo police rescued two abducted victims in Akure

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of two persons following an abduction incident reported in Akure.

Police sources said the incident occurred on January 24, 2026, when four individuals were attacked by armed men while at a work site in the Eleyewo area of the state capital.

It was gathered that the assailants struck suddenly, but security operatives responded swiftly after a distress alert was received by the command.

The intervention led to the release of two of the victims, while their motorcycles were also recovered by the police.

The command said the remaining two persons managed to flee into nearby bushes during the incident.

According to the police, tactical units have since been deployed to the area to track the suspects and ensure the safety of the victims.

The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, assured residents that criminals would not find refuge in the state, while urging the public to continue supporting security agencies with useful information.
