A professor of Applied Social and Environmental Psychology at Adekunle Ajasin University, Oluyinka Ojedokun, will on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, deliver the institution’s 56th inaugural lecture.
The lecture, titled “God Made the Earth, Humans Made the Town,” is scheduled to hold at the university’s Multipurpose Hall in Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, at 2pm, with guests expected to be seated by 1.30pm.
According to a statement by the Ceremonies Committee Chairman and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adebisi Daramola, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, will preside over the event.
Ojedokun began his academic journey at the University of Ibadan, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1998. He later obtained a Master’s degree in Social and Personality Psychology in 2002 and a PhD in the same field in 2009 from the institution.
He joined AAUA in 2010 as Lecturer I in the Department of Pure and Applied Psychology and was elevated to the rank of professor in 2019.
Within the university, he has served in several academic and administrative roles, including Acting Head of Department, Coordinator of Postgraduate Academic Programmes, and Departmental Seminar Coordinator. He also served as Editor of Social & Management Scientists, Pre-Degree Coordinator for the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, and Chairman of the FSMS Journal Club.
A prolific scholar, Ojedokun has published 75 journal articles, contributed chapters to 13 books, and edited two volumes. He has presented papers at conferences across several countries, including South Africa, Thailand, Norway, Uganda, Turkey and the Netherlands.
Beyond AAUA, he has served as External Examiner at the University of the Western Cape and the University of Cape Town, as well as External Moderator at the former. He is also a Research Associate at the University of Pretoria, an Article Editor for SAGE Open Journal, and an Overseas Associate Editor for the Asia Pacific Journal of Management and Entrepreneurial Research.
His research contributions have attracted grants and honours, including funding from the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, and a postdoctoral fellowship at North-West University.
Ojedokun is a member of several professional bodies, among them the Nigerian Psychological Association, American Psychological Association, Association for Psychological Science, and the International Society for the Study of Behavioural Development. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Positive Psychology Association of Nigeria and the Nigerian Association of Social Psychologists.
