An aspirant for the House of Representatives seat representing Akoko North East/Akoko North West Federal Constituency on the platform of the African Democratic Congress, Hon. Akingbola Ebenezer Akintunde, popularly known as Mogbaf’OGO, has criticised the performance of the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Ife Ehindero.
Akintunde, who is seeking to represent the constituency in the National Assembly, accused the All Progressives Congress lawmaker of failing to deliver meaningful dividends of democracy to the people of the constituency.
Speaking in a statement on Monday, the ADC aspirant expressed concern over what he described as the slow pace of development across communities in Akoko North East and Akoko North West, insisting that the people deserved better representation at the federal level.
He alleged that several communities in the constituency were yet to feel the impact of federal projects and programmes, adding that residents continued to grapple with challenges such as poor infrastructure, unemployment and inadequate social amenities.
Akintunde said effective representation should go beyond occupying a seat in the National Assembly, stressing that lawmakers must be committed to initiating people-oriented legislation and facilitating development projects that directly benefit their constituents.
The ADC aspirant maintained that the people of the constituency were increasingly dissatisfied with the current representation and were eager for a new direction that prioritises their welfare and development.
He assured constituents that if elected, he would focus on attracting federal projects, promoting youth empowerment, and advancing policies that would improve the standard of living of the people in Akoko North East and Akoko North West.
Akintunde also called on residents of the constituency to support credible leadership in future elections, noting that the time had come for a new approach to representation that would bring tangible development to the area.
