Prominent businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Hamisu Idris Medugu, popularly known as Sardauna Madagali, has declared his intention to contest the Adamawa North Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
Medugu made the declaration while hosting political stakeholders, community leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress from the Adamawa North Senatorial District at a Ramadan Iftar dinner held at his residence in Yola, Adamawa State.
The gathering attracted party executives, supporters, friends and associates from different parts of the state, who came together to break the Ramadan fast and discuss issues affecting the district and the state.
Speaking during the event, Medugu said his aspiration to represent Adamawa North in the Senate was driven by his desire to serve the people and contribute meaningfully to the development of the area through effective representation.
He called for prayers, support and cooperation from stakeholders and residents of the senatorial district as he prepares for the 2027 contest.
“I humbly seek the prayers, support and cooperation of our people as we work together towards building a better Adamawa North,” he said.
The businessman, who is widely known for his philanthropic activities, said his ambition was anchored on inclusive leadership and commitment to improving the welfare of the people.
Medugu has over the years been involved in several humanitarian initiatives, including educational sponsorships, healthcare support and empowerment programmes for youths and women across communities in the state.
He had previously contested for the Adamawa North senatorial seat, a move observers say reflects his continued interest in representing the district at the National Assembly.
Participants at the Iftar commended the initiative, describing it as an opportunity for dialogue, unity and engagement among political stakeholders in the district.
The host also expressed appreciation to attendees for honouring the invitation and prayed for the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and continued peace and progress in Adamawa State.
Political observers say such engagements may intensify in the coming months as aspirants begin consultations and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
