The management of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, has directed all staff to resume academic and administrative duties with immediate effect following the intervention of the state government in the lingering industrial dispute at the institution.
The directive, issued on Wednesday, was said to be in line with the Ondo State Government’s move to restore normalcy and ensure the smooth running of the polytechnic.
According to the management, the decision was taken under the leadership of the state governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, as part of efforts to stabilise academic activities and safeguard the institution’s calendar.
As part of the measures, the polytechnic authorities announced the suspension of activities of staff unions within the institution until further notice. It also disclosed that the leadership of the affected unions had been barred from official engagements pending the outcome of an administrative review.
“All staff members are hereby directed to resume their official duties immediately in compliance with the government’s directive,” the statement read.
The management further warned that the “No Work, No Pay” policy would be strictly enforced in line with existing Public Service Rules, noting that workers who fail to comply with the resumption order risk forfeiting their salaries.
It explained that the steps were necessary to restore stability, maintain institutional continuity and protect the academic calendar from further disruption.
While reaffirming its readiness to engage relevant stakeholders, the management urged staff members to cooperate with the directive in the overall interest of the institution.
The statement, signed by the institution’s Public Relations and Protocol officer, Olumide Olugosi, reiterated the polytechnic’s commitment to sustaining peace and providing a conducive environment for teaching, learning and administrative activities.
