Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, on Sunday felicitated with Christians in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of Easter, urging the Federal Government to prioritise the security and welfare of citizens.
In a statement issued by his Media Office in Abuja, the chieftain of the African Democratic Congress said the government must live up to its constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property, while also creating an enabling environment for Nigerians to thrive.
He described Easter as a season marked by solemn reflection, sacrifice and divine love, calling on Christians to use the period for introspection, repentance and renewal of hope.
The former presidential candidate urged believers to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ, particularly selflessness, forgiveness and compassion, in their daily interactions.
He said, “The essence of Easter is sacrifice and love. We must seize this opportunity to show genuine love and compassion to one another.”
Atiku further stressed that governance must be anchored on inclusivity, noting that all Nigerians, irrespective of tribe or religion, deserve equal protection and opportunities.
He also wished Christian families a peaceful and joyous celebration.
