A man, Abdulrazak Aliu, has been brought before an Akure Magistrate's Court over allegations that he stole two motorcycles valued at N1.9 million in Ondo State.
The defendant was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on stealing, contrary to Sections 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State.
According to the prosecution, Aliu allegedly stole a motorcycle valued at N1.2 million belonging to one Agboola Oladele at Oke-Ijebu area of Akure on May 22, 2026.
The prosecutor, P.O. Nwafor, further told the court that the defendant was also accused of stealing a Bajaj motorcycle worth N700,000 belonging to Arogun Samson on March 31, 2026, within the same locality.
When the charges were read to him, Aliu pleaded not guilty.
Following the plea, the prosecutor requested an adjournment to enable the prosecution to assemble its witnesses and present evidence before the court.
Counsel for the defendant, P.O. Jemine, did not object to the application but appealed to the court to grant his client bail on favourable terms.
In his ruling, Magistrate Damilola Sekoni admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like amount.
The court directed the sureties to provide proof of their means of livelihood and other relevant documents to establish their credibility.
The case was subsequently adjourned until June 25, 2026, for hearing.
