The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo State, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, SAN, has paid glowing tribute to the late former Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, describing him as a courageous leader whose legacy continues to shape the state's political and governance landscape.
Ajulo made the remarks in a statement on Monday to commemorate what would have been Akeredolu's 70th posthumous birthday, extending his condolences and prayers to the late governor's wife, children, the Akeredolu family and the people of Ondo State.
He described the former governor as a patriot, mentor and principled statesman whose commitment to justice, integrity and selfless service left an enduring mark on the state and the nation.
According to Ajulo, Akeredolu's life demonstrated that true leadership is defined not by the number of years lived but by the values and institutions a leader leaves behind.
He said the late governor inspired many through his courage, steadfast principles and unwavering commitment to the public good, noting that Akeredolu remained resolute in defending what he believed was right even in difficult circumstances.
Ajulo also said the seamless transition of leadership in Ondo State, with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa succeeding his former principal, reflected the strength of the democratic institutions established during Akeredolu's administration.
He noted that the continuity of governance under Aiyedatiwa underscored the late governor's enduring influence and the stability of the structures he helped build.
The Attorney General added that although Akeredolu did not live to celebrate his 70th birthday, his contributions to governance and public service would continue to inspire future generations.
He prayed for God to continue to comfort the Akeredolu family, bless the people of Ondo State and grant them the grace to uphold the ideals of justice, courage and integrity for which the former governor was known.
Ajulo concluded that Akeredolu's legacy would remain alive through the institutions he strengthened, the lives he impacted and the values he championed throughout his lifetime.
