The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has constituted a reconciliation committee to address grievances arising from the party's recent primary election and restore unity among its members.

The state Chairman of the APC, Kolawole Babatunde, disclosed this on Friday while briefing journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Centre in Akure.

Babatunde said the committee, headed by the Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, Prince Biyi Poroye, had been mandated to engage aggrieved aspirants and party stakeholders with a view to resolving the crisis and strengthening internal cohesion.

According to him, the move is aimed at preventing further division within the party and ensuring that all disagreements stemming from the primary process are amicably resolved.

The APC chairman also reacted to comments reportedly made by a former Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Rasaq Obe, during a television interview.

He distanced the party from the remarks, insisting that the views expressed by the former commissioner were personal and did not reflect the official position of the Ondo State APC.

Babatunde expressed confidence that the reconciliation committee would work with all stakeholders to foster unity and position the party for future political engagements.
