The former Nigeria Labour Congress Chairman in Ondo State and House of Representatives candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement for Akoko South-West/Akoko South-East Federal Constituency, Comrade Victor Amoko, has been honoured with an award by the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko chapter.
Amoko received the award on Thursday alongside other distinguished personalities at the 80th Regular Zonal Executive Council Meeting of SSANU, South-West Zone, held at the Nelson Mandela Hall of AAUA.
The Chairman of AAUA-SSANU, Comrade Tayo Ogungbeni, said Amoko was honoured in recognition of his contributions to the development of society and his commitment to the welfare of workers and the people.
Ogungbeni said the award was also meant to appreciate individuals who had distinguished themselves through service and advocacy for the interests of the people.
Receiving the award personally, Amoko expressed appreciation to the association for the recognition, describing it as an encouragement to continue contributing to the development of the society.
He said the honour would spur him to remain committed to the welfare of workers and the people, stressing that public service should be driven by genuine concern for the people.
Amoko, a former NLC chairman in the state, is the APM candidate for the Akoko South-West/Akoko South-East Federal Constituency in the forthcoming election.
The award was presented during the zonal meeting attended by SSANU officials and delegates from universities across the South-West.
