Jubilations as Owo Council Chairman empowers 100 residents, distributes fertiliser to farmers

The Chairman of Owo Local Government Council, Tope Omolayo, has empowered 100 residents with financial assistance and distributed fertilisers to farmers across the council’s 11 political wards.

The intervention, held on Friday at the newly renovated Mapo Town Hall, Owo, was targeted at elderly people, youths and women, as well as farmers, in a bid to cushion economic hardship and strengthen agricultural production at the grassroots.

Omolayo said the initiative was designed to translate the Ondo State Government’s EASE agenda into practical benefits for residents of Owo, particularly vulnerable groups and people engaged in farming.

He commended the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for prioritising programmes aimed at improving the welfare and economic wellbeing of residents across the state.

The council chairman urged the beneficiaries to use the financial support and agricultural inputs responsibly, stressing that the intervention was intended to produce lasting economic benefits.

He said the empowerment scheme would not end with the latest beneficiaries, assuring residents who were not captured that subsequent phases would provide opportunities for more people to benefit.

Omolayo said, “This intervention is about putting government policies into action and ensuring that our people feel the impact at the grassroots. We will continue to support our people within the resources available to us.”

The event was attended by the council chairman’s wife, Princess Temilade Omolayo; Chairmen of Ijebu and Iyere LCDAs, Lawanson Agilagila and Samuel Olusola Ogundele; Secretary to the Local Government, Olanrewaju Oladimeji; councillors, supervisors, special advisers and other government officials, including the Head of Local Government Administration, Taiwo Aladesuyi.

Some beneficiaries thanked Omolayo and Aiyedatiwa for the intervention, describing the support as timely and urging the council to sustain initiatives that directly improve livelihoods and strengthen economic activities among residents.
