The All Progressives Congress senatorial candidate for Ondo South, Dr Isaacs Kekemeke, has dismissed speculation that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has withdrawn his support for his 2027 ambition.
Kekemeke, a former APC National Vice Chairman, South-West, said his relationship with the governor remained cordial, describing reports of a disagreement between them as an attempt by political opponents to cause division within the party.
He spoke in Akure while reacting to claims that Aiyedatiwa attended a meeting in Okitipupa where some APC members allegedly backed a candidate from another political party.
The senatorial candidate said the governor was instrumental to his emergence as the APC candidate, stressing that nothing had occurred to suggest a breakdown in their relationship.
He said, “Nothing has happened between me and the governor to change gear. There is no friction. The governor supported me during the primaries and did everything possible to ensure that I emerged victorious.”
Kekemeke further described Aiyedatiwa as his benefactor and the leader of the APC in Ondo State, urging party members not to be misled by what he described as unfounded claims.
He also dismissed the reported Okitipupa gathering as lacking the authority to represent the APC, noting that its organisers could not clearly state the party they were endorsing.
Kekemeke expressed confidence in the APC’s strength in Ondo South and said members remained committed to the party, ruling out anti-party activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
