The Adamawa State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Project 2027, Salisu Abba Girei, has mobilised support for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in the state, Tijjani Ahmed Galadima, ahead of the 2027 elections.
Girei made the call on Tuesday while addressing APC supporters in Girei Local Government Area, where he urged them to back the party’s candidates across the various elective positions.
He said the gathering provided an opportunity to rally support for Tinubu’s second-term bid and the APC governorship ticket, particularly the aspiration of Adamawa Central Senatorial District to produce the next governor.
Girei also appealed to residents to be patient with the Tinubu administration, saying ongoing reforms would, in his view, eventually bring improvements to Nigerians. He further claimed that the Federal Government had earmarked 5,000 appointments for Adamawa State, with Girei expected to benefit from the allocation.
On the governorship contest, Girei urged APC supporters to support Galadima, whom he described as an experienced politician with the capacity to lead the state.
He also criticised one of Galadima’s rivals, Abdulrahaman Bashir Haske, over what he described as limited political and administrative experience, arguing that voters should consider candidates’ records and capacity when making their choice.
Girei equally endorsed other APC candidates, including Mustapha Salihu for the Senate and Ahmad Salihijo for the House of Representatives, while urging voters in Girei to support the party’s State House of Assembly candidate.
He said his decision to step down from his own political ambition in favour of Salihijo was aimed at promoting unity within the APC, adding that he had undergone screening before seeking the party’s ticket.
Girei further said he intended to use his position as Renewed Hope Coordinator to mobilise support for the APC from the presidential contest down to the State House of Assembly in the 2027 elections.
However, Haske’s campaign organisation subsequently rejected Girei’s remarks, describing his assessment of the APM governorship candidate’s experience as unfounded. The group said Haske had business experience spanning more than a decade and maintained that voters should assess the candidates on their records and programmes.
