Akoko students back Ehindero for second term, cite JAMB support

The National Association of Akoko North East Students has declared its support for the second-term bid of the member representing Akoko North East/Akoko North West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ifeoluwa Babajide Ehindero.

The association said its decision followed an assessment of interventions received by students in the constituency during Ehindero’s first term, particularly those addressing educational and welfare needs.

NAANES made its position known in an official statement dated September 16, 2026, signed by its National President, Idris Samuel Oluwaseun; National Secretary, Agun Qudus Olasunkanmi; and National Public Relations Officer, Ayodele Kafayat Oluwashola.

According to the students’ body, one of the notable interventions during Ehindero’s tenure was assistance with registration for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board examination.

It said 500 JAMB registration slots were secured for students in 2025, while another 500 slots were provided in 2026, describing the initiative as an opportunity for students who might otherwise have struggled to meet the cost of registration.

The association also listed the distribution of bags of rice as festive-period palliatives in December 2025 among the interventions it received during the period under review.

It added that grants and bursary-related assistance had also been extended to students as part of efforts to address educational and welfare concerns within the constituency.

The students said the interventions formed part of the considerations behind their decision to associate with Ehindero’s second-term ambition, stressing that their declaration was based on their experience with his representation.

NAANES said its position should not be regarded as a casual pronouncement, but as an organisational resolution reached after deliberations on the relationship between the association, its members and the interventions recorded during Ehindero’s tenure.

The association formally placed on record its support for the lawmaker’s bid to retain his seat in the House of Representatives, according to the statement.
