Bandits storm farms, kill five farmers, abduct others

Five farmers have been killed by suspected bandits while working on their farms in Wasagu communities in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

As reported by DAILY POST, the victims were reportedly attacked by armed men who invaded the farmlands and opened fire on the farmers, killing five and taking an unspecified number of others away.

The incident was disclosed on Thursday by a crisis reporter and security analyst, Bakatsine, in a post on his X account.

According to the security analyst, the attack occurred as the farmers were carrying out their routine agricultural activities in the affected communities.

In a separate incident, a resident identified as Alhaji Ummaru was reportedly killed along the Ayu–Wasagu road in Wasagu town.

Bakatsine further alleged that the assailants abducted children who were travelling with Ummaru on a motorcycle around the Nayaya and Rijiyar Margayi areas.

The fresh attacks have reportedly unsettled residents, particularly farming communities whose movements to their farmlands and along rural roads have increasingly been affected by insecurity.

The development has also raised concerns over the safety of farmers in the area, as attacks and abductions continue to threaten agricultural activities in rural communities.

As of the time of filing this report, there had been no official statement from the police or other security agencies confirming the incidents.

The whereabouts of the abducted persons remained unknown at the time of publication.
