A close political associate of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and former National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, South-South, Dan Osi Orbih, is dead at 64.
Orbih reportedly died on Monday, August 31, 2026, with his passing subsequently announced by members of his family.
The deceased was from Ogbona in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State and, until his death, served as Chairman of the Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
The announcement was contained in a family statement issued by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih and later shared publicly by Lere Olayinka, Wike’s Chief Press Secretary.
The family expressed grief over the death of Orbih, describing him as a husband, father, brother and uncle whose loss had left relatives and loved ones mourning.
According to the statement, Orbih is survived by his wife, Florence, and two children, Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih.
The family appealed to friends, associates and well-wishers to keep them in their thoughts and prayers as they come to terms with the loss.
Orbih was a prominent figure in the PDP, having served as chairman of the party in Edo State before rising to the position of National Vice Chairman, South-South.
Born on October 27, 1961, the late politician remained active in political and public affairs and was widely regarded as an influential figure within the Edo political landscape.
Details of his burial arrangements were yet to be announced by the family as of the time of filing this report.
