The Ondo State Governor and leader of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has formally flagged off the campaign of the party’s candidate for Ondo Central Senatorial District, Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, in Idanre.
The campaign launch, which attracted APC leaders, supporters and other party members, was held at the Depot Roundabout in Idanre town amid colourful displays and celebrations.
Aiyedatiwa, while addressing the gathering, urged members of the party to remain united and support all APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
He said the unity of party members was essential to achieving the desired results at the polls, calling on supporters to work collectively for the success of the party’s candidates.
The governor also formally presented the APC candidates to party supporters at the event, marking the commencement of campaign activities for Adegbonmire in the senatorial district.
The state APC Chairman, Kolawole Babatunde, also reaffirmed the party’s position against anti-party activities, saying members were expected to support candidates fielded by the APC at all levels.
He said the position covered candidates ranging from the President to those contesting legislative seats, urging party members to remain committed to the party’s programmes and candidates.
The Idanre event subsequently ended with renewed calls for unity among APC members as the party begins its campaign activities across Ondo Central ahead of the general elections.
