The JadeRola Foundation has provided educational materials to 200 pupils and students in Ute, Ondo State, as part of its maiden Back to School 1.0 Project, with outstanding academic performers also receiving special recognition.
The beneficiaries, drawn from public and private primary and secondary schools in the community, received school bags and notebooks to assist them in their studies.
The intervention took place on Thursday at St Stephen Anglican Mega School, Ute, where parents, teachers, community leaders, prominent residents and other stakeholders gathered to support the foundation’s education-focused initiative.
The programme also featured the recognition of students who distinguished themselves academically. Among those honoured were Olurotimi Miracle of Ute High School, Adefela Joshua of Olivet Model Secondary School, Aketepe Oluwaseunfunmi Glory of God Grace College and Emmanuel Sunday of Almighty Academy, alongside other high-performing students.
The organisers said the recognition was intended to promote academic excellence and encourage pupils and students to remain committed to their education and strive for better performance.
Speaking at the event, the Headmaster of God Grace Nursery and Primary School, Mr Bamikole, urged the beneficiaries to use the materials for their intended purpose. He commended the foundation for what he described as a timely and laudable intervention in the education sector.
Also speaking, Mr Oluwafemi Babatunde, popularly known as Ajagbe, who represented the Principal of God Grace College, Ute, described the initiative as “mind-blowing” and encouraged financially capable parents to teach their children the value of giving back to society.
Babatunde told the beneficiaries to remember the support they received and replicate the gesture when they eventually attain positions of influence. He said, “Those of you who are beneficiaries today should remember this day for good. When you get to greater positions tomorrow, you should also remember your community and give back.”
He also appealed to the JadeRola Foundation to extend future editions of the programme to school teachers, noting that educators play an important role in the academic and personal development of children.
The event, according to the organisers, went beyond the distribution of school materials, as it provided an opportunity to promote community participation, encourage children and celebrate academic achievement.
For the beneficiaries, the school bags, notebooks and other educational items are expected to provide practical assistance as they pursue their studies, while the special packages presented to high-performing students were intended to further motivate them.
The maiden Back to School 1.0 Project was coordinated by Oluwaseun Ogunniyi, Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State, who urged the beneficiaries to take their education seriously, remain disciplined and show respect to their parents and teachers.
Ogunniyi advised the pupils and students to view the materials not simply as gifts, but as a demonstration that people believe in their abilities and are prepared to support their educational journey.
He further charged them to remain focused, work hard and make proper use of opportunities available to them, urging them to remember the importance of supporting others and giving back to their communities when they attain positions of influence.
The intervention, he added, underscored the importance of collective responsibility, academic excellence and nurturing a culture of giving back among younger generations.
