A young Nigerian man has confessed to taking N1.4m from his sick mother’s bank account and losing the entire money to sports betting.
The man, whose identity was not disclosed, made the admission in a social media post in which he recounted how he repeatedly accessed his mother’s account and transferred the funds into his betting account.
According to him, the withdrawals began on September 13, when he took N100,000 from the account and staked the money on bets.
He disclosed that he returned to the account later that same day to withdraw another N200,000, which he also transferred to his betting account.
The man said he subsequently made another withdrawal of N300,000 that day as his betting activities continued.
He explained that the withdrawals did not stop there, as he repeatedly took money from the account until the total amount reached N1.4m.
The entire sum, he admitted, was eventually lost through gambling, leaving him without the money he had taken from his mother.
“I withdrew N100,000 from my sick mother’s account and put it into my betting account. On the same day, I withdrew N200,000 and put it into my betting account,” he said.
He added that he later withdrew another N300,000 and continued taking funds until the total reached N1.4m, which he eventually lost to gambling.
