The Oyo State Government has suffered the exit of two officials in its budget and economic planning department following their resignation from Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.
The officials, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, and the governor’s Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke, tendered their resignation letters on Monday.
Both officials announced that their decisions would take effect immediately, bringing their respective appointments to an end.
While Ojo offered no explanation for his decision to leave the government, Oyeleke pointed to dissatisfaction with the working conditions in the administration.
The former special adviser reportedly said the prevailing circumstances had made it difficult for him to meet the expectations and deliver on the aspirations of the people he represented.
Despite their departure, the two officials acknowledged Makinde for giving them the opportunity to serve in his government.
Their resignations leave two important positions in the state's budget and economic planning machinery vacant, although no information was immediately available on who would succeed them.
The circumstances surrounding Ojo's exit remain unclear, as he did not give any reason for stepping down from his position.
