An electric power plant belonging to the federal government located at Okeagbe Community, Akoko North West area of Ondo state has been razed by an uncontrollable inferno yesterday.
It was learnt that no lives was lost and the causes of the large inferno cannot be Ascertained as of now.
It was gathered that the Power plant was abandoned after it was established five years ago by the Government.
Residents in the area said the power plant was meant to serve Ondo, Ekiti Even up to Kogi State, but it was Abandoned after construction.
The residents added that there were safety measures that was taken to secure the equipments that was in the power plant.
According to an eyewitness Account, the fire destroyed the entire power plant and there was no effort to put off the inferno as Fire fighters was in absential.
According to the eyewitness, "we just saw the place burning and suddenly we don't know what could have caused it and the fire fighters were not on ground to put off the fire, because they are not in this local Government".
Confirming the incident, Another Okeagbe resident, Folusho Ajagun who decries the incident, maintaining that the fire engulf the whole power plant.
