Sack of UNIMED Ondo State Resident Doctors Is Undemocratic and Inhumane - Akingboye

Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA) Ondo State People's Democratic Party (PDP) crowd pulling aspirant decries the sack of Resident Doctors in Ondo State University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, OSUMTH. He considers the decision by Akeredolu led All Progressive Congress (APC) government, as being undemocratic, anti-labour and inhumane. This he said whilst reacting through his press secretary.

We're in a perilous time where people are losing their lives and livelihood; and a time doctors are needed to be more available and on their toes. Hence, it's saddening and absolutely unthoughtful to see a state government take this very harsh decision against health workers who are on the frontline of this battle to savage the world.

Speaking further, Akingboye points out an exercise of double standard by the government who recently promised extra allowances for health workers owing to their relentless efforts in saving lives and humanity. Sacking the Resident Doctors because they protested non-payment of due salaries and allowances is a crooked way of shying away from one's responsibility as a leader of state.

To Akingboye, it's high time the good people of Ondo State looked beyond sentiments to support someone who is able to run a government with a different and more pragmatic way of addressing issues.

Akingboye charges the state government to put the interest of the people first by reversing the sack and seek means to fulfil the demands of the resident doctors. Residency training program is the pillar upon which Teaching Hospitals are established, suspending the program and sacking the doctors ridicules the University and Ondo State at large.

Conclusively, he implores the general public to put their safety in mind while going about the struggle for self-fulfilment. He expressed optimism that with the support of Ondo State people, come October 2020 a New Dawn (Igba Otun) will be birthed in Ondo State.
