How Fatai Lawal, Ogunmolasuyi, Others restore normalcy in Owo

As part of the conscious efforts to 
reconcile  youth groups, who have turned Owo town to battle field, the special assistant to Ondo state Governor, Hon Fatai Lawal and other party chieftains in Owo, today met, and reconciled irate youths in the town. 

Earlier, morbid fears have being infused to many residents of the community, as the Polytechnic community devoid a perfect serenity. 




In a statement made available to our correspondent, by Convener of 'Aketi elites group' Adedeji Adeniyi, explained that some Bigwigs in Owo convened a peace talk among various youth and 'good boys' within the town at the country home of Hon. Fatai Lawal.

THE SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE ONDO STATE GOVERNOR AND A MEMBER OF ONDO STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY CONVENED A PEACE TALK AMONG VARIOUS YOUTH AND 'GOOD BOYS' IN OWO, OWO LOCAL GOVERNMENT.  

It was an atmosphere of peace and tranquility , devoid of any fear or acrimony in Owo ,the council headquarter of Owo local government area of Ondo State on Tuesday, 28th July, 2020 when Hon. Fatai Lawal ; the special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN and Hon. Ogunmolasuyi Oluwole Emmanuel popularly called West, a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly representing Owo constituency 1, convened a peace talk among various youth and 'good boys' within the town at the country home of Hon. Fatai Lawal.

In the well attended meeting, the Special Assistant to the governor on forestry informed the gathering that the meeting was specifically convened to address the frequent fights and public disturbance among youth in Owo kingdom. He opined that a situation where youth can not resolve minor issues without firing guns must be condemned by all peace loving people of Owo kingdom. He went further to inform the gathering that throughout his studies as a student of the prestigious Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko where he he read sociology, he never for once engaged in any antisocial activities or belong to any secret society. He said he never smoke or drink while in school but  that has not stopped him from associating with various youth in the town,  because he sees himself as a rally points regardless of political affiliations. 

Hon. Ogunmolasuyi Oluwole Emmanuel ( west ) told the gathering the frequent clashes among various 'good boys' in Owo is undermining the relative peace enjoyed in recent times courtesy of governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu and other eminents sons and daughters of Owo kingdom. He explained that frequent clashes in the town by various groups of 'good boys' is actually giving Owo a bad name and all efforts must be geared toward ensuring that all disagreements and bone of contention among them is resolved amicably without resulting to violence.

Hon. Fatai Lawal informed the meeting that Owo kingdom is fortunate to have a governor that is a Son of the soil and someone who sincerely has the interest of the youth at heart. He emphasised that youth should be able to resolve minor issue amicably without recourse to violence. 

One of the spokespersons of the groups that attended the meeting thanked Hon. Lawal and Hon. Ogunmolasuyi for organising the peace talk. He emphasized that this is the first time that all the youth groups and good boys in Owo are sitting together on a round table to reach a substantial way forward. He informed the gathering that for the respect which they accorded the governor and most importantly for the sake of peace, they have agreed to resolve all their disagreements and are willing to give peace a chance. 

Another spokesperson went further to inform the meeting that from now on , they have turned themselves to vigilantes of the community and that any 'good boys' or youth caught disturbing the peace of the town will be apprehended and hand over to law enforcement agencies. 

Another youth pleaded with Hon. Lawal to help them facilitate skill acquisition training as many of them are wiling to be productive and contribute positively to the society. 

Hon. Lawal responded by appreciating various speakers among them and promise to assist them in skill acquisition training for them to be a responsible members of the society. He informed the gathering that if any one of them has any requests or needs, he  should not hesitate to call on him as he operates open door policy. 

Hon. Fatai Lawal therefore, called on the Area Commander of Area  A  Police command and the Divisional Police Officer of the B division of Nigeria Police, Otapete, Owo not to arrest any of these youth for now since they have promised to turn a new leaf. He advised that they should be given an element of doubt.

Finally, all youth groups and 'good boys' presented in the peace meeting pledged their total supports and loyalty to Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu and promised to assiduously work for the reelection of the governor respective of political or groups affiliations.
