Government supports for farmers will go a long way to boost the agricultural sector and skyrocket production of foods in our society, as farmers in Akoko environs in ondo north senatorial district, chide all gubernatorial candidates in Ondo over non inclusion of Agricultural policies in thier campaign.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) had few weeks ago lifted ban to kick start campaigns.
However, a farmer from Irun Akoko, Mr. Michael Bello, said he was not pleased with the blueprints reeled out by the governorship candidates in the state, adding that he expected political gladiators in the major political parties to inform farmers how they shall resolve amicably, farmers herdsmen clash and invariably provide security, compensation for farmers sequel to the destruction of their farm crops.
Bello, who could not hid the excruciating pains farmers pass through for decades, stated that he was no more interested in going to his farm despite bank loans they got because of herdsmen incessant harrassment and vandalisation of crops like yam, cassava, maize.
Bello also wondered how on earth will it be possible for a farmer to go to farm without the fear of intimidation or kidnapping.
Another farmer, Mr. Bayo Boluwade, urged who ever coasts home to victory after the poll, slated for October 10, to pay unmediated attention to roads in the rural areas.
Boluwade said many roads are in deplorable state, mentioning few were: Irun to Ojeka ugbouji, Irun to Surulere, Eshe to Afin to Okeagbe and Ikaram to Akunu, Supare to Igboegun.
However, the farmers called on politicians to always make their electioneering campaign a reality after election.
