No fewer than 17 ,000 persons would be recruited as ad -hoc staff for the poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), ahead of the governorship election stated for Oct 10.
The Commission made the disclosure at a workshop organised for journalists in preparation for the election.
While speaking, the INEC National Commissioner, Festus Okoye said 15,000 ad-hoc staff, who will work at the polling unit constitutes Serving Corp members and student of Federal institutions.
Other ad-hoc staff include Supervising Presiding Officers (SPO) and Collation officers (CO) who are Civil Servants from Federal parastatals and senior staff of Federal Universities respectively.
Mr Okoye added that INEC only provide moral and intellectual guide while Nigerians are the one conducting elections.
In his remarks, the NUJ Chairman in Ondo State, Adetona Aderoboye charged INEC for timely release of vital information to the journalists and also appealed to the electoral umpire to ensure a level plain ground for all political parties.
However, Over 50 journalists from the print, electronic and online media participated in the workshop.
