**Says Akeredolu loathes polical unrest
Less than a month to the gubernatorial election in Ondo State, a former member of the house of representatives, Hon Kolawole Babatunde, has urged youth to shun political violence, and desist from utterances that can cause breach of peace ahead of the election slated for October 10.
Kolawole, who is also an aide to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, noted that the nation could only thrive smoothly in an atmosphere of peace.
He spoke during an aggressive campaign against violence organized by the directorate of rural and community development, for the four local governments in Akoko, Ondo north senatorial district of the state.
The aide expressed displeasure over series of attack launched by thugs to induce morbid fears in mind of the electorates, stressing that the campaign was aimed at ensuring safety Poll.
The adviser also said the directorate of rural and community development considered it imperative to preach harmony and sues for peace in the parochial environments, well meaning residents hate political decadence.
According to him, he said, "Akoko land is a peaceful land and stakeholders in the land must not fold their hands at this point in time, as winner of election can only govern the living and not the dead"
"As an experienced politician, with a sincere heart, I want to appeal to you all to shun violence ahead of the gubernatorial election in Ondo State"
"We facilitated this program through the directorate of rural and community development, because people in the rural areas must know that our Governor doesn't want violence, we have worked tooth and nail by constructing drainage, roads and host of others in many areas, barring this, we still need to tell our people that October 10, 2020 shall be violence free"
"Our Governor gives zero tolerance to thuggery, violence and political ebb, hence we must join hands with Mr Governor to fight unrest sponsored by the haters of democracy in Ondo State"
"You need to come out and vote as voters apathy is a serious threat to modern democracy, so don't allow desperate politicians to use you as thugs," he said.
While enlightening the participants at campaign, Babatunde stated that Governor Akeredolu never advocated for violence, adding that some members of the opposition parties were desperate to get power at detriment of the masses.
He also stated further that Akeredolu is committed to free and fair election, describing the Governor as man of peace.
He, however, commended police who arrested suspected thugs in Ifon, while equally calling on the state security to step up their fight against the act of violence most especially during the electioneering period.
