PDP Breaks Silence Over Ondo Election
Following the announcement of election results by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declaring the Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu as the winner, The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP says the party would study the result of the Ondo state governorship election and take necessary action.
Akeredolu, popularly known as Aketi, won the election by polling 292,830 to beat his closest rival and candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Eyitayo Jegede, who recorded 195,791 votes, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Akure, Sunday.
Coming third in the contest is the flagbearer of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and incumbent Deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi, with 69,127 votes.
Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Peretei Kennedy stated this while addressing newsmen at the residence of the PDP candidate ,Mr Eyitayo jegede in Akure after the declaration of the governorship election result.
Mr Peretei urged their supporters to be in high spirit and be optimistic, alleging that there were pocket of violence in owo, Ese-odo among others .
It was observed that one of the roads leading to his residence Mr Jegede was manned by security agents using the armour tank of the Nigeria Army while operatives are patroling the area.
