The league of Akoko monarchs and other concerned citizens have expressed great displeasure over the gruesome murder of the paramount ruler of Ifon, Oba Isreal Adeusi.
The late king was shot dead by unknown gunmen believed to be bandits yesterday while returning to his country home in Ifon, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Before he met his untimely death, Oba Adeusi had attended Council of Obas meeting yesterday in Akure, the State Capital.
Meanwhile, the State Commisioner for Information, Donald Ojogo in a statement quoted Governor Akeredolu who had earlier on visited the affected area with some top government officials.
The statement partly reads: “All lives matter; but this one is too heavy and unbearable. It’s a sad day in Ondo State. Clearly, we are in a serious security crisis that requires extraordinary means.
“The security agencies, especially the Nigeria Police, have already been directed to fish out the perpetrators of this heinous crime"
“On our part as a Government, we shall give whatever it takes to unravel this; these criminals who have brought this sad day on our State shall not go unpunished “, the Governor said.
Olubaka of Oka land, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye; Akala of Ikaram, Oba, HRM Andrew Momodu; and the Alale of Akungba, Oba Sunday Adeyeye; who all attended the State traditional council meeting at Akure, expressed shock and anguish over the sudden demise of their fallen colleague.
The royal trio described the late monarch as highly intelligent, easy-going and a dogged fighter for his people's cause.
They unanimously demanded for a high-powered investigation into the dastardly killing, while urging security agencies to assist in policing the State for peace to reign.
In same vein, the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Ondo State chapter has expressed concern over incessant killings and kidnapping in the State.
In a communique issued at the end of its Congress, on thursday, signed by the State Secretary, Leke Adegbite, NUJ demands immediate arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of evil in the State.
The Union also urged the regional security outfit known as Amotekun and other agencies to intensify efforts to get rid of criminal elements terrorising the State.
Concerned residents of the State, High Chief Adesegun Samuel, and Ladi Bello, said the tragic death of the frontline monarch is shocking, describing it as abominable and bizzare.
They equally urged security agencies to comb all forests in Ondo State to flush out the unrepentant criminals.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the State Police Command,Tee Leo lkoro, confirmed the incident and explained that a high-level search party has begun in the area to ensure that the culprits were caught and brought to book.
