As part of the efforts to avert road accidents in  Akungba Akoko, the paramount ruler of the community, Oba Sunday Adeyeye, Ajimo III, has announced that trading  by the roadside should stop with immediate effect.

The royal father made the announcement during a stakeholders' meeting with chiefs and elders of the community on Sunday.

According to him, the Instruction became imperative to forestall any future occurrence.

It will be recalled that a  heavy-duty truck crushed dozens of people at the town centre market in Ibaka quarters, Akungba on Saturday, October 31.

When our correspondent visited the Ibaka market today, the traders complied with the monarch's directive while staying awat from the road side.

A trader simply identified as Janet stated that the directive is meant to safe guard traders and  commuters from becoming susceptible to dangers of road accidents.

She urged the government to construct a dual carriage road in the community, adding that families of the late victims should also be compensated.

However, policemen were seen with their patrol vehicle, stationed at the market to control traffics and enforce the new directive.
