Following his promise last week assist the survivors of a ghastly truck accident that crushed two dozens on a marketplace in Akungba on October 31, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has sent a high-powered government delegation to condole with the King and inhabitants of the University Community.
The secretary to the
State Government, Hon. Oluwatuyi Tuykana, today, led the delegation to the palace of Alale of Akungba, Oba Sunday Adeyeye, Ajimo III. He was accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Jimmy Kufor and the State Commisioner for Agriculture, Otunba Gboyega Adefarati, who hails from Akungba Akoko.
In a condolence message delivered by Oluwatuyi, he said the State Government will foot the bills of the injured victims in the recent accident that claimed 24 lives in the community.
He explained that efforts are on to compensate the families of victims, adding that the insurance of the guilty truck company that crushed will also partake in compensating the bereaved.
On his part, the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Otunba Gboyega Adefarati, expressed displeasure at the spate of avoidable accidents in Akungba.
He said the delegation will visit the injured victims at their various hospitals.
In his royal response, the paramount monarch of the community, Kabiyesi Alale thanked the Governor and the team for identifying with the community in her moment of dire need.
Oba Adeyeye stated that the Government should also assist in curbing continuous accidents in his Kingdom.
Meanwhile, the SSG, on behalf of the Governor and the team, presented a cash gift to a three-year-old girl who was injured and simultaneously lost her mother to the cold hands of death in the fatal accident.
