The Alumni of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, on Saturday, elected its Executives that will pilot the affairs of the association for another 2-year term.
The elected Executives were: President, Adetoba Temitope; Vice President I, Oladunmiye Abimbola; Vice President II, Dr. Sunday Layi Oladipupo; General Secretary, Oluwaseyi Samuel Oluwalade; Treasurer, Akintan Akinyemi; Events and Publicity Officer, Owoeye Adewale; Director of Women Services, Adeleye Taibat; Legal Adviser, Barr. Bayo Okelola and Dr. Olarewaju Yusuf, Ex Officio.
Speaking at the Nelson Mandela Hall where the election was held, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, commended the National Executive Committee (NEC) for deploying relevant strategies to mobilize more members to the Association.
The VC who was represented by Prof. Olumekun, also appreciated the assiduous efforts of the Association at providing support for the AAUA ENACTUS Team and initiating AAUA Alumni Education Trust Fund for indigent undergraduate students of the University.
Piqued by the economic downturn, the VC said: "Government alone cannot fund University education more than before, the University requires the support of key stakeholders, like the Alumni Association, to enable the University discharge its core mandates of teaching, research and community service effectively"
Prof Ige who doubles as the Chairman of the occasion, urged the elected executives to keep the flag flying by building on the legacies recorded so far and by expanding the scope of the Alumni successes.
Prof. Bolanle Ogungbamila, in his lecture entitled: 'Alumni and Cooperative Societies: Can AAUA benefit from the Two-Level sustainable Development Fulcrum', stated that the main thrust of the Association is to galvanized human and financial resources of the AAUA graduates for the benefits of its members and the Institution.
On how to navigate the challenges confronting the AAUA Alumni Cooperative Society, Ogungbamila suggested E-Cooperative, Virtual meetings, E-Management of accounts and requests and host of others.
Chairman of Election Committee, Sunday Ogunode, who conscientiously announced the outcome of the election noted that the pandemic occasioned by Covid19, prevalence of Insecurity allowed both Virtual and Physical exercise.
In their reactions in separate interviews, President Adetoba and the General secretary, Oluwaseyi Samuel Oluwalade hailed the seamless conduct, pledged to work closely with the Advancement Office of the University.
