A frontline monarch and the paramount ruler of Oka-Akoko in Akoko Southwest Local Government Area of Ondo State's, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, has called upon the citizens of Ondo State not to despair but be vigilant in the face of apparent insecurity while advising the government to encourage local security outfits, for peace to reign.
Oba Adeleye made the plea in an interview with our correspondent, while noting that Government at all levels must not ignore the vital roles of Vigilante Groups and Local Hunters, in combating kidnapping and banditry.
He explained that their incorporation into the State's security team will help abate the rise of criminal activities, especially in the beleaguered Ondo North Senatorial District.
The monarch described the previous year as the most challenging, due to the devastating effect of COVID-19 pandemic.
He decried the gruesome killing of his colleague, the Olufon of Ifon, late Oba Isreal Adeusi who was murdered by gunmen along Elegbeka, Ose Local Government Area of the State.
The monarch also commended Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for his unrelenting efforts to give a face-lift to infrastructural development in the State.
Meanwhile, the Akala of Ikaram-Akoko, Oba. Andrew Momodu has commiserated with Akeredolu over the sudden demise of his Chief of Protocol, Barrister Tosin Ogunbodede, who died in a road accident recently.
The traditional ruler also extended his sympathy to the Olowo of Owo, Oba. Gbadegesin Ogunoye, over the death of the CoP, an illustrious son of the town.
The CoP died last night in a ghastly car crash along Ilesa-Akure road.
Gov Akeredolu had since paid a condolence visit to the widow of the late Ogunbodede and other family members of the deceased.
Speaking at the residence of the late Ogunbodede, Governor Akeredolu described his death as a great loss to him and an unexpected blow.
The Governor was accompanied by the caretaker committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the State, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, Chief of Staff, Chief Olugbenga Ale, Head of Service, Mr. Dare Aragbaiye, and other members of the State Executive Council and members of the State House of Assembly.
