Following the accident that claimed many lives last night in Akungba Akoko, a Government delegation believed to be sent by the State Govenor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was prevented from entering the community.
The entourage led by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Olugbenga Ale, also included the State Commissioner of Police, the Pro-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Dr. Tunji Abayomi and other senior officials.
The fiece looking youths who were chanting war songs demanded the appearance of the State Governor himself.
The visitors were stopped at Iwaro Road junction in Akungba Akoko. The protesters complained of Government's neglect and inaction on the fare of wanton destruction of lives and property in the community.
What sparked the anger of the youths was the truck accident which yesterday crushed 8 persons at the gate of Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba.
Earlier, the Commisioner of Police in the State, Mr. Bolaji Salami, was allowed to enter the community with the vehicle conveying him only, while his securities parked and trekked.
In a bid to pave way for the dignitaries, the son of soil and the Commisioner of Agriculture, Otunba Gboyega Adefarati, pleaded with the youths, but all was to no avail.
The peaceful intervention by the paramount ruler of the Kingdom, HRM Oba Isaac Sunday Adeyeye Ajimo III, the Alale of Akungba also went into deaf ears of the demonstrators.
