NYSC: Ondo State Coordinator Hosts FERMA Team

The working visit of the NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani on assumption of duties recently to the Federal Controller, Works, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing is yielding positive results.

During the said visit, the State Coordinator made a passionate appeal to the Federal Controller, Works on the need to construct speed breakers at the entrance so that motorists would be alerted to reduce their speed when approaching the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko.

Also, Mrs. Ani informed his host about the deplorable state of feeder roads within the Camp and requested for asphalt overlay assistance on the existing one and fresh asphalt for the Parade Ground.

The Federal Controller, Works, Engineer Nelson Olubakinde had told the State Coordinator that road maintenance is handled by its sister agency, Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and advised her to initiate a letter detailing NYSC request.

Engineer Olubakinde however told the NYSC Ondo State boss that Federal Government had stopped construction of speed breakers on the Federal highways because some road users especially in the night time have not been observing the road signs which had caused several accidents with attendant loss of precious lives and destruction to properties.

As partners in progress, the FERMA team comprising of Engineers Phillip Okoegwa and Emmanuel Abiodun visited the camp to undertake physical assessment of the Parade Ground and the feeder roads.

The team after inspection promised to work on their findings and revert back to the State Coordinator.

Mrs. Ani appreciated the management of FERMA in Ondo State for the priority attention given to the request which prompted them to come over to the camp and see things for themselves.
