A healthcare intervention programme was on Thursday, July 29 launched in Akungba-Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State by a Non-Governmental Organisation, Tolu Oriyomi and Foluso Adeola Support Foundation (TOFA).

The medical outreach according to Chief Tolu Oriyomi, one of the foundation's trustees, is to offer medical treatments at no cost to indigent people of the area suffering from one ailment or the other.

The medical outreach held today at the children church auditorium of Emmanuel Anglican Church in Okusa.

Oriyomi noted that the outreach will alleviate many health challenges through provision of free diagnosis and treatments for the people.

"The medical outreach is for Akungba people. What we are only trying to do is to bring Healthcare delivery to the grass-root"

"We have four Doctors consulting and sixteen other medical professionals who are attending to our people here because our aged ones need to know their health status"

"The outreach is meant for all and sundry in Akungba Community, though we are having it in Anglican Church here in Okusa because of the space", he said.

Another trustee of the Foundation, Foluso Adeola, stated that the health scheme is meant for all quarters in the community, adding that it is aimed at addressing the numerous health challenges of our people.

He pointed out the fact that many indigent residents lack the financial wherewithal to cater for their health.

Beneficiaries of the programme received free medical screening and treatment for different ailments such as hypertension, diabetes, malaria, pelvic ulcer and other diseases.

One of the beneficiaries of the outreach, Elder Jacob Ogidigbo, lauded the foundation for providing free health care services for inhabitants of the community, adding that the outreach was opened to all.

Palliatives were also distributed to the beneficiaries as TOFA team believes poor nourishment can be a serious factor in ill health.
