Customers of Moniepoint Microfinance Bank can now verify their eligibility for the Federal Government’s N50,000 emergency financial assistance through the bank’s USSD service.
The bank announced that customers seeking to know whether they qualified for the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention could dial \*5573\*27# using the telephone number linked to their accounts.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the financial institution said successful applicants would receive instructions on how to accept the intervention and have the money credited directly to their Moniepoint accounts without paying any additional charges.
The initiative, coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, is aimed at providing financial relief to vulnerable households struggling with economic challenges and the rising cost of basic necessities.
The development follows the commencement of the Federal Government’s disbursement of the N50,000 support to qualified Nigerians, with Moniepoint among the financial institutions selected to facilitate the payments.
The bank explained that beneficiaries were being identified through government-approved screening procedures involving verified National Identification Number records and the National Social Register. It added that the exercise would be conducted in phases, meaning customers might not receive confirmation at the same time.
Moniepoint’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Babatunde Olofin, said the bank was committed to ensuring that qualified customers accessed the intervention through a secure and convenient process. He urged customers to rely exclusively on the bank’s authorised USSD platform and avoid third-party agents.
The bank stressed that checking eligibility and receiving the money required no payment, extra documentation or intervention by middlemen. It advised customers seeking clarification to contact its customer service unit or the NERSI helpdesk.
