The NYSC Oyo State Coordinator, Mrs Grace Oguogebe, has enjoined corps members to make themselves visible by making a great impact in the society using the skills acquired in the course of the service year.
Addressing the outgoing 2020 Batch 'B' Stream l corps members at Iseyin Local Government who represented the 2388 corps members comprising of 1074 males and 1314 females deployed to the state for the one year mandatory service, Ogbuogebe said that the management of the scheme is proud to hand over the corps members to the society, as better individuals.
The State Coordinator who also stated that the scheme has made frantic efforts through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program to ensure that the corps members are not a burden to their families and the society after the service year equally encouraged the corps members to continue specializing in their various chosen skills especially in the agro-allied sector to help boost the food security of the nation.
Ogbuogebe further encouraged the outgoing corps members to avail themselves of the opportunities that abound in Oyo state by staying back and establishing their businesses in the state.
Earlier in his goodwill message, the Local Government Inspector, Dr Tajudeen Farinde advised the corps members to continue to be good representatives of their families and the scheme in this new phase of their lives. He said that the scheme having raised their moral tone, expects them to continue in the service to humanity while leaving legacies that will positively impact people's lives.
The highlight of the event was the sample distribution of the certificate of national service to the deserving corps members by the State Coordinator. Other deserving corps members in the 33 local governments in Oyo State received their certificate of National Service from officers assigned to the respective local governments.
The corps members, who spoke through a representative, appreciated the NYSC management for providing a platform that corrected their perception about Nigeria.
The dignitaries who were present at the event include the Director of Education of Iseyin Local Government, Prince Segun Adeyemo and the Principal, Government Technical College, Iseyin, Mr Taofeek Babalola.
