From : Concerned Residents of Hon. Justice Babatunde Adejumo Drive,
Opposite Governor's Office
Alagbaka,
Akure,
Ondo State.
SAVE OUR SOUL : AN OPEN LETTER TO THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF ONDO STATE ON THE EVIL CONNIVANCE BETWEEN DIESEL SUPPLIER TO THE GOVERNOR'S QUARTERS AND OFFICIALS OF BEDC.
We, the residents of Hon. Justice Babatunde Adejuwo Drive, Opposite Governor's Office, Alagbaka, Akure, Ondo State sincerely want to use this medium to appreciate the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN for the unprecedented infrastructural development currently being witnessed in the state.
Akure, the state capital is not left out in the conscious attempt of Mr Talk and Do Governor to make it truly the capital of the Sunshine State, by providing facilities for the dwellers of the city including those living in the outer parts of the city.
Sir, it is on this note that we write this open letter to Mr. Governor on the suffering of the residents of the aforementioned area as occasioned by the evil connivance of the supplier of diesel to the Governor's Quarters and the officials of Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), which has thrown the Residents into darkness for the last two (2) months.
Mr. Governor sir, the initial excused given by the officials of BEDC on the perpetual darkness being experienced by the Residents of Hon. Justice Babatunde Adejuwo Drive, despite it's closeness to the Governor's Office was that a connecting cable was cut of by some unidentified vandals. However, upon a discrete investigation carried out , it was reportedly discovered that a Government contractor that supplies diesel to power generators in the quarters allegedly bribed the Officials of BEDC to cut off supply of electricity to the area for him to enjoy regular patronage of the Government.
Unfortunately, it was not all the residents of the area that enjoy electricity being supplied by those generators. While those in the Governor's Office enjoyed regular supply of electricity through generators, other residents, especially those in Hon. Justice Babatunde Adejuwo Drive had been left to their fate and have been in darkness for the last four months.
It is strange that such clandestine arrangement was made by the contractor and officials of BEDC at the expense of lives and comfort of ordinary citizens living that area.
Not only that, it is utterly annoying that residents of an area very close to the Governor's office could be subjected to such harrowing experience by officials of BEDC just to satisfy a greedy contractor. Then, what is the benefit of living close to a Government quarters, if such unholy connivance between the two parties is allowed to sustain ?
Sir, we are not begging to enjoy electricity being supplied by Government's generators, considering the amount of money being spent on buying diesel. We are only pleading that Mr Governor should mandate the officials of BEDC to restore electricity to the affected areas since we are willing to pay and we not indebted to BEDC.
We, therefore, use this medium to appeal to our amiable Mr. Talk and Do Governor to intervene in this ugly situation and SAVE OUR SOUL by mandating Officials of Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) to restore electricity to the affected areas.
Sir, we are in dry season and the heat is unbearable for some of our residents who has little children and aged parents living with them.
We are very optimistic that immediately this open letter gets to the attention of our Governor, he will expedite actions on the issue.
Whilst thanking Mr. Governor in anticipation of his prompt response to our plead, we wish the Governor and his family the best of this season of Yuletide
Signed
Awe Adeniyi Adejumo
