ODIRS launches new website, CDN





.….Adegbie,Akinterinwa, Babajide Akeredolu, others hail Revenue Agency.

The Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS), on Tuesday launched its new official website and Consolidated Demand Notice, (CDN). The website is: www.odirs.ng

The Chairman of ODIRS, Mr Tolu Adegbie, in his address, stated that the purpose of the website is to ease doing business in Ondo State and to assist tax payers in their tax planning as payments can now be made online and the website is now accessible.

Adegbie said, “One of our mandate is to always continuously strive to make tax payment convenient for the people that of Ondo state, we want to add value to people who are paying taxes, the governor is using the tax we collect to build roads, infrastructure, hospitals and schools.

“So we are making tye payment easier so that people will be encouraged to pay, so because of that, we felt that the next thing for us to do was to look at this Consolidated Demand Notice, see how we can get some ministries and have what we call annual renewal levy rate. We have ministry of commerce, signage, ministry of works, we also have ministry of environment.

“We decided to harmonize annual rates and levies, put it in one consolidated bill and then start a kind of pilot. People have been talking about it for a while, we have a number of people that come to our office, asking for one thing or the other is irritating.

“Then we decided to work on the technology, we called our Patner, CSDC, they work on technology, we had stake holders meeting with the permanent Secretaries, the commissioners, they all had their views and we came out with this final product.
 
“By extension, we have been looking at our website. It has been designed internally by the staff of ODIRS, we didn’t contract our website designe out, if you recall, ODIRS recruited staff two years ago, we have staff for every department, ICT guys were recruited from the Federal University of technology, Akure, they sat down and designed the website and we launched the whole thing today”.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Revenue, Mr Femi Feyide stated that a lot of changes had been made to the old website, “the colour has changed, the logo has also been changed and it’s reflecting on the new website but our vision and mission statement remains the same.

His words “growing from a static website to a dynamic website, with this kind of technology we have on this website, we do not need to launch another website in the next couple of years, this website involves technology, the new website is an advertising app of the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service, it shows case who we are, what we do, it is user friendly, very interactive.”

Mr Oladeji Akinyele, a Tax Consultant in his goodwill message, commended the ODIRS chairman, saying that he stands heads and shoulders high, he described him as someone who is committed to payment delivery of tax payers.

He noted that technology has brought a lot of improvement to everyone facet of life and the launching of the website is such that it will be useful for the people of Ondo state.

Akinyele added that the website can be used to do any transpaction concerning payment of taxes, registration of Tax Identification Number (TIN) and all other services either tax revenue or non tax revenue card be done on the website.

“With our experience from Covid-19, we will see that technology is very important, people must work from home and conviniency is key pillar of tax revenue Generation. The Consolidated Demand Notice has fulfilled the requirements of convenience and certainty of taxation”.

Mr Babajide Akeredolu, the Director General of PPIMU, also congratulated the ODIRS chairman for setting standard in tax management, adding that it is impressive to come up with such idea.
 
The permanent Secretary of ministry of commerce, Dr Dipo Durojaye applauded Mr Tolu Adegbie for the innovation, saying that it will lift up a great burden and it will help to improve te revenue collection in the state. He added that people are still expecting more from the ODIRS.

The Chairman of ALGON, Hon Augustine Oloruntogbe who also commended the chairman for including the people at the grassroot level to the project, appreciated the Governor of the state, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu for encouraging the people to come out and participate and has led to the high level of productivity in the state.

The Commissioner for finance, Hon. Wale Akinterinwa noted that website will change the revenue generation narrative of the state forever, it makes it easier to pay taxes online and difficulty will now be a thing of the past.

Akinterinwa appreciated the state Governor for always encouraging innovations and creating a conducive environment which enables the growth of great ideas economically.
