Worried by the unabating insecurity and bloodletting along Ajowa-Akunnu-Ayere axis, Traditional rulers in Ondo State and the Kogi State Government have agreed to synergize in order to avert incessant killings in the areas.
Both Akunnu and Ajowa communities in Ondo State share boundaries with Ayere in Kogi State.
But the axis has been known to be a hotbed for kidnappings and horrendous crimes.
Rising from a stakeholders meeting held at the Palace of a foremost traditional ruler, Oba Yisa Olanipekun, the Zaki of Arigidi, the concerned stakeholders labeled the perpetrators of the dastardly acts as 'black sheep'.
The Chairman of Akoko North West Local Government, Elder Ayodele Akande, expressed optimism over the internet communal security development, saying the joint effort was geared towards stamping out banditry bedeviling the zone.
According to Akande, the troubled zone was the butt of insecurity, adding that the ongoing recruitment of over 350 Amotekun Corps would checkmate activities of the criminal elements.
Similarly, Dr. Isah Taofeek who is the Chairman of Ijumu Council Area in Kogi, lamented the rising spate of insecurity in the border towns. He called for immediate establishment of vigilante groups.
However, a retired Naval Officer and the Akala of Ikaram, Oba Andrew Momodu noted that securing lives and properties require collective efforts of all and sundry.
