NYSC: Harness our culture to fight disunity, Oyo SC


Corps members have been advised to harness our cultures which symbolizes our uniqueness and roots, to fight disunity, our common enemy. 

The NYSC Oyo State Coordinator, Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe gave the advice at the 2022 Batch 'B'(Stream l)Inter-Platoon Cultural Carnival held at Iseyin Camp. She said that our rich and unique cultures once harnessed would bring out the oneness that will help us fight disunity .She stated that Culture should not be used as an instrument of disintegration  but  rather to promote unity which is a  core mandate of the Scheme - Unity in diversity. 

Ogbuogebe, who applauded the corps members beautifully adorned in their colourful cultural apparels, encouraged them to integrate with people in their host communities while reverencing their customs and traditions. 

The Inter-Platoon Cultural Carnival  had corps members showcasing different tribes that make up our great nation. 

At the end of the contest,  Number Four platoon showcasing, Ijaw culture from the South South region, emerged winner. The second position was clinched by Number Two Platoon that displayed Ibo culture from the South East geo-political zone while Number Three Platoon with the Fulani tribe from the Northern region took the third position. 

The event which was co-sponsored by the NYSC Oyo Management team and Adbond Homes and Properties had the winners presented with cash prizes and trophies.
