A non-governmental organization, Concerned Muslims of Ondo State, has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities to call of the ongoing strike.
The Union had on February, instructed its members to downtool, demanding among other things, the deployment of UTAS to replace IPPIS and the implementation of the 2009 renegotiated agreement which contains its members' conditions of service.
Speaking at an emergency meeting of the group, the chaman of the group, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Imam Bell, (Chief Olodeke of Ekan Ikare), urged the Union to consider the students in its struggle. He further emphasised that most of the students were from poor homes and cannot afford private universities.
He therefore called on the ASUU to come to terms with the Federal Government due to the staggering economy.
He also called on the government to acquiesced to the demands of the union for the sake of the future of Nigerian students.
