The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the last governorship election in Ondo State, Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), has said only the presidency of the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku can rescue Nigeria from its present situation.
Jegede said when emerged as the president, Atiku Abubakar will revive the country's economy which had been ruined by the present administration of the All Progressive Congress(APC) led by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking at the unveiling programme of the PDP candidates organized by the Coalition of Eyitayo Jegede Support groups (EVG) in Akure, the Ondo State capital, the former Attorney General of the state, urged voters across the state to ensure that they vote for all the candidates of the party from the president to the Senate, House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly at the general elections.
While assuring that the PDP candidates will not fail to deliver good governance to them if elected, Jegede recalled the achievements which the country recorded during the years of PDP at the national government.
According to him, a vote for Atiku is a vote for progress, good governance, secured Nigeria and a good economy.
Jegede further stated that the former Vice President had been tested as the chairman of the country’s Economic Team under former president Olusegun Obasanjo before, and he didn’t fail the nation.
His words:" The roles which Atiku played in stabilizing the Nigerian economy under Obasanjo’s regime is enough to show how he will revive the dead economy of the country.
"As a Vice President, Alhaji Atiku led a remarkable period of sustainable economic growth in Nigeria even though the administration of Olusegun Obasanjo was greeted with financial challenges at the beginning."
He, however, urged all his support groups to go to their Units, Wards and Local government areas and begin to sensitize voters on the need to vote for Atiku and all the party’s candidates in Ondo state.
Earlier, the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Fatai Adams, appealed to the people to shelve their disagreement and interest to work for the success of the party in the forthcoming polls.
Also, the chairman of the occasion, Akogun Tokunbo Modupe, who is the Ondo North Senatorial candidate of the party, lauded Eyitayo Jegede for being a unifier of the party in the state.
He praised Jegede for making sure that all the party’s candidates as well as the aggrieved camps of the party in the state were brought together for the progress of the party.
